The Eurofly FB-5 Star Light is a modern Italian ultralight aircraft developed by Eurofly srl. Designed as a kit-built aircraft for amateur constructors, the FB-5 represents a shift toward a more conventional touring-style ultralight compared to earlier designs from the manufacturer. While some sources indicate the aircraft first flew in the late 2000s, evidence from used-aircraft listings shows that airframes were already being produced and marketed by 2004.
Structurally, the FB-5 is a low-wing monoplane featuring a fabric-covered metal frame. To enhance occupant safety, the cockpit area is constructed from steel, while the rest of the fuselage framework utilizes alloy longerons. The aircraft is configured with two side-by-side seats in an enclosed cockpit and employs a tractor propeller. The wings are equipped with flaps, which contribute to a stall speed of 58 km/h when deployed.
Power is provided by a four-cylinder, horizontally-opposed Rotax 912 piston engine, which is both air and liquid-cooled. Depending on the specific variant, the aircraft uses either the Rotax 912 UL, producing 59.6 kW (approximately 80 hp), or the more powerful Rotax 912 ULS, which delivers 73.5 kW (approximately 99–100 hp). Operational data for the FB-5 is limited, but it is known that at least 12 aircraft were flying in Italy by mid-2010, with at least one additional example registered in Spain by early 2009. The aircraft is recognized internationally via ICAO Doc 8643, which assigns it the type code FB5. This classification is notable for a low-volume kit aircraft. The FB-5's physical dimensions include a length of 6.60 m, a wingspan of approximately 8.35 m, and a maximum take-off weight ranging between 450 kg and 500 kg.
