The Fajr F-3 is a significant example of Iranian indigenous aerospace development, serving as one of the nation's first four-seat composite light aircraft designed to Western certification standards. Manufactured by Fajr Aviation & Composites Industry, this low-wing landplane was developed for training and touring roles.

The Fajr F-3 (ICAO type code FJR3) is a four-seat composite light aircraft developed by the Fajr Aviation & Composites Industry (FACI) in Iran. Designed for training, touring, and utility roles, the aircraft represents a strategic effort by Iran to develop domestic composite technology and reduce reliance on foreign aircraft imports. Design work began in 1992, with prototype construction starting in 1993. The aircraft achieved its first flight on 26 January 1995.

Technically, the F-3 is characterized by its full composite fuselage and wings, featuring a cantilever low-wing configuration with flaps. Access to the four-seat cabin is provided by two upward-hinged glass-fiber window/doors, often described as gull-wing style. The aircraft was developed to meet the JAR-23 certification standards, receiving its domestic type certificate in September 2000. Two primary variants emerged: the F-3A, which features fixed tricycle landing gear, and the F-3B, a version with retractable landing gear certified in 2004 to provide improved range and cruise performance.

Power is provided by a single Textron Lycoming AEIO-540-L1B5D six-cylinder, air-cooled, horizontally-opposed piston engine producing 201 kW (270 hp). This engine drives a three-blade Hoffmann HOV 123K-KV-K200-AH constant-speed propeller. Fuel capacity varies between a standard 212 litres and an optional 292 litres. Performance differs by variant; the F-3A reaches a maximum cruising speed of 148 kt, while the F-3B is capable of 175 kt. The F-3B also offers a higher service ceiling of 5,790 m compared to the F-3A's 5,180 m, and an extended range of 702 nmi.

Production began in 2001 with the F-3A, and first deliveries occurred in 2002. By January 2003, domestic orders totaled 20 aircraft, with five completed and two delivered. A sixth airframe was completed by November 2004. While primarily a civil aircraft, the F-3 saw paramilitary application, with the Iranian Border Patrol reporting a requirement for 10 aircraft for light patrol and observation roles. FACI continues to operate as an entity specializing in composite materials for the aircraft industry, with facilities located near Tehran and Mehrabad Airport.
