ExpressJet Holdings was a major regional airline operator founded in 1986 and headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, that primarily conducted regional passenger operations under contracts with larger carriers including Continental Airlines, United Airlines, and Delta Air Lines. Operating as a regional feeder airline, ExpressJet served numerous destinations across North America from its hubs, connecting passengers to mainline carrier networks rather than operating independent long-haul routes. The airline offered standard economy cabin seating on its regional aircraft and operated without its own frequent flyer program, instead crediting passengers to parent carrier loyalty programs. ExpressJet ceased independent operations in 2010 when it was acquired by SkyWest Airlines, marking the end of its nearly quarter-century history as one of the largest regional carriers in the United States. The airline was known for its extensive network of regional routes and its important role in feeding traffic to major U.S. carriers during the height of the regional airline industry.
