Air Zimbabwe was the flag carrier of Zimbabwe, founded in 1967 and headquartered in Harare, operating scheduled passenger services primarily throughout Southern Africa with a focus on regional routes connecting Zimbabwe to neighboring countries. The airline was a full-service carrier that offered economy and business class services on its regional network, serving key destinations including Johannesburg, Botswana, and other regional hubs from its main base in Harare. Air Zimbabwe operated as an independent airline without major alliance partnerships and maintained its own frequent flyer program. The carrier faced significant financial and operational challenges in the 2000s and 2010s, ultimately ceasing operations and being liquidated in 2012 as the airline struggled with fuel shortages, aging aircraft, and economic difficulties in Zimbabwe. The airline's closure marked the end of Zimbabwe's national carrier after more than four decades of service.
