The Diamond DA-62 is a modern twin-engine diesel aircraft that pioneered efficient composite construction in the light twin market. First flown in April 2012, it is a low-wing twin-engine aircraft seating five to seven occupants with two Austro AE330 diesel engines burning Jet A fuel. With a wingspan generating 17.10 square meters of wing area and achieving 16.6 miles per gallon in testing, the DA-62 represented a breakthrough in fuel efficiency for general aviation. The aircraft is manufactured by Diamond Aircraft Industries of Austria and Canada.
