The Aero Commander 500, America's first truly successful light business twin, revolutionized corporate aviation by demonstrating exceptional single-engine safety performance. First flown as the prototype L3805 on 23 April 1948, it was a high-wing twin-engine monoplane that could seat up to seven passengers in its initial configuration. With a wingspan of 14.90 meters and powered by twin Lycoming engines, it was manufactured by Aero Design and Engineering Company, later known as Aero Commander.
