The SAAB 2000, a high-speed regional turboprop designed to compete with early regional jets, represented Sweden's ambitious entry into the 50-seat airliner market. First flown on March 26, 1992, it was a low-wing twin-turboprop monoplane that seated 50-58 passengers with innovative noise reduction technology. Stretching 27.30 meters with a 24.80-meter wingspan, it achieved near-jet cruise speeds of 370 knots while maintaining turboprop efficiency. The aircraft was manufactured by SAAB at their Linköping facility in Sweden.
