The Aérospatiale AS355 Écureuil 2, a twin-engine light utility helicopter that became one of Europe's most successful multi-purpose rotorcraft designs. First flown on September 28, 1979, it was a conventional single-rotor helicopter powered by two Allison 250-C20F turboshaft engines with seating for up to seven passengers or equivalent cargo capacity. The aircraft measured over 35 feet in length with a four-blade main rotor system and could cruise at 144 mph with a range of 428 miles. Manufactured by Aérospatiale and later Eurocopter until production ended in 2016.
