The Piaggio P.180 Avanti stands as aviation's most distinctive executive transport, pioneering the use of twin pusher-propeller turboprops in pressurized business aircraft. First flown on September 23, 1986, this unconventional design combines a three-surface configuration with wing-mounted Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-66B engines producing 850 shaft horsepower each. The aircraft accommodates up to nine passengers in a pressurized cabin measuring 17.5 feet in length, delivering turboprop efficiency with jet-like comfort. Manufactured by Italy's Piaggio Aero Industries, more than 250 Avanti aircraft have been delivered since production began in 1990.
