JAT Airways was the flag carrier of Yugoslavia, founded in 1927 and headquartered in Belgrade, operating as a full-service legacy airline that served as a major regional carrier in the Balkans and Southeast Europe. The airline operated scheduled passenger services from its main hub at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport, connecting destinations throughout Yugoslavia and across Europe, the Middle East, and beyond. JAT was a member of the IATA and ICAO and offered multiple cabin classes on its longer routes, catering to both business and leisure travelers across its network. The airline ceased operations in 2003 following the breakup of Yugoslavia and the subsequent Wars of Yugoslav Succession, which destabilized the region and made it increasingly difficult to maintain international operations. The airline was eventually succeeded by Air Serbia, which was established in 2013 as Serbia's new national carrier and continues to operate from Belgrade as a regional hub.
