Compañía Mexicana de Aviación (Mexicana) was Mexico's flagship carrier and one of Latin America's oldest airlines, founded in 1921 and headquartered in Mexico City. The airline operated scheduled passenger services throughout Mexico, the Caribbean, and to destinations in the United States and Central America, positioning Mexico City as its primary hub. Mexicana was a full-service carrier offering multiple cabin classes including first, business, and economy seating, and it maintained a frequent flyer program called Frecuente Volador. The airline was a member of the oneworld alliance and had codeshare partnerships with major international carriers. Mexicana ceased operations in 2010 after decades of financial difficulties, labor disputes, and increased competition from low-cost carriers and larger international airlines. The airline's closure marked the end of an iconic chapter in Mexican aviation history, though its legacy remains significant in the region.
