Aeroperú was Peru's flagship carrier, founded in 1973 and headquartered in Lima, operating as a full-service airline that served both domestic and international routes throughout South America, North America, and Europe. The airline operated scheduled passenger services with a network centered on Lima's Jorge Chávez International Airport, offering economy and business class cabins on its long-haul flights. As a member of the SkyTeam alliance from 2000 onward, Aeroperú provided connectivity to a global network of partner carriers and maintained a frequent flyer program. However, the airline ceased operations in 2001 following a period of financial difficulties and operational challenges that affected Peru's aviation industry during that era. Despite its relatively short operational history compared to other legacy carriers, Aeroperú played an important role in developing Peru's international aviation connectivity during the late 20th century.
