The Harbin Y-12E Harbinger, China's pioneering turboprop utility aircraft, achieved historic significance as the first Chinese-designed aircraft to earn FAA certification. First flown in July 1982 as the Y-12(I) prototype, this twin-turboprop high-wing transport accommodates up to 18 passengers or equivalent cargo with its PT6A-135A engines producing 750 shaft horsepower each. With a wingspan of 19.2 meters and maximum takeoff weight of 5,700 kilograms, approximately 300 aircraft have been delivered worldwide. The aircraft is manufactured by Harbin Aircraft Industry Group, now part of Aviation Industry Corporation of China.
