Air Mobility Command Fleet

The DC-10, a revolutionary wide-body airliner that democratized intercontinental air travel, made its first flight on August 29, 1970. This tri-engine transport featured a low-wing configuration with three turbofan engines and could carry up to 380 passengers or substantial cargo loads. Spanning over 20 years of production, 446 aircraft were built at McDonnell Douglas's Long Beach facility, with the type serving routes from short domestic hops to extended transoceanic flights. The aircraft measured over 180 feet in length and was manufactured by McDonnell Douglas Corporation.
