Founded in 1946, the airline served as Sudan's primary international carrier, offering economy and business class seating on regional and long-haul routes. Sudan Airways was a member of the Arab Air Carriers Organization and maintained partnerships with various international airlines, though it never joined a major global alliance. The airline faced significant operational and financial challenges in its later years due to international sanctions, security concerns, and civil unrest in Sudan, which severely restricted its route network and fleet operations. Sudan Airways ceased operations in the early 2020s as the airline became unable to sustain services amid Sudan's ongoing political and economic turmoil.
