The Piper PA-23-235 Aztec represented Piper Aircraft's ambitious entry into the light twin-engine market, bridging the gap between single-engine aircraft and larger commercial twins. First flown in its prototype form on October 17, 1958, it was a low-wing twin-engine aircraft powered by two Lycoming O-540 engines, capable of seating four to six passengers. With a wingspan of 37 feet 5 inches and a maximum speed of 200 knots, the PA-23-235 variant was manufactured by Piper Aircraft Corporation from 1962 to 1966.
