TransAsia Airways was a Taiwanese airline that operated from 1951 until its closure in 2016, headquartered in Taipei. The carrier primarily focused on regional passenger operations throughout East and Southeast Asia, with key hubs at Taipei Taoyuan International Airport and Kaohsiung International Airport, serving routes to mainland China, Japan, South Korea, and other regional destinations. TransAsia Airways operated as a full-service regional carrier offering economy and business class cabins and maintained its own frequent flyer program for loyal passengers. The airline was known for serving smaller regional routes that connected Taiwan to neighboring markets, operating a fleet suited for medium-haul regional flights. Following a series of accidents and operational challenges in the mid-2010s, TransAsia Airways ceased operations in 2016, marking the end of Taiwan's second-largest carrier at the time.
