Trans World AirlinesTWA

Trans World Airlines (TWA) was a major American carrier founded in 1930 and headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, that operated as a full-service legacy airline until its collapse in 2001. TWA was renowned for pioneering transatlantic air travel and maintaining extensive international routes connecting North America to Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, with primary hubs in New York (JFK), St. Louis, and Boston. The airline offered all cabin classes including first class and business class on its long-haul flights and maintained the TWA Frequent Traveler program for loyal passengers. TWA was an independent carrier throughout most of its history, famously avoiding alliance memberships until late in its existence, and was known for its distinctive red and white livery and iconic Moonspun service brand. The airline's fortunes declined significantly in the 1990s due to high debt, the impact of the Gulf War, and increased competition, leading to its acquisition by American Airlines in 2001, marking the end of one of aviation's most storied carriers.
