FAA Investigates Boeing 777 Ultra-Low Pass Over Texas Airport
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating an incident in which a Boeing 777 performed an extremely low pass over Horseshoe Bay Resort Jet Center in Texas on June 24, 2026. Viral footage verified as authentic shows the widebody aircraft descending to no more than 25 feet above the ground, according to CBS News.
Pre-Delivery Test Flight
Jetran confirmed the aircraft — a Boeing 777-200LR converted freighter — was conducting a final pre-delivery test flight before entering service with Qatar Airways Cargo. The flight was operating under an experimental airworthiness certificate at the time. In a statement, Jetran said the maneuver did not reflect the company's operational standards and expressed full support for a thorough investigation by the FAA.
Safety and Regulatory Review
The aircraft landed safely at Pro Field with no reported injuries or airframe damage, but the maneuver's extreme proximity to the ground has drawn intense scrutiny. Simple Flying described the event as nearly disastrous. The FAA is now reviewing whether the low pass was a pre-planned element of the test profile or an unauthorized decision made by the flight crew.
