Lufthansa 787-9 Nose Gear Collapses at Frankfurt, Injures Staff
A Lufthansa Boeing 787-9 suffered a nose landing gear collapse while parked at a gate at Frankfurt Airport, injuring several staff members. The aircraft was being prepared for Flight LH450 from Frankfurt to Los Angeles when the front section dropped onto the tarmac.
Lufthansa confirmed no passengers had boarded at the time of the incident. The airline established a crisis management team and is working with authorities to determine the circumstances of the failure. Boeing said it is aware of the situation and providing support during the investigation.
Investigators are expected to examine the landing gear mechanism, hydraulic systems and maintenance history to identify the cause. While video footage has circulated online, officials have not identified a specific mechanical cause. The incident is being treated as a ground-side failure investigation.
