DAYTONA BEACH, Florida — A 58-year-old man breached security at Daytona Beach International Airport (DAB) on March 26, driving a Ford Mustang through a gate onto the active airfield while reportedly intoxicated.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, Brian J. Parker performed donuts on a taxiway and drove near an Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University aircraft around 4:30 p.m. He attempted to enter two aircraft, including one that was occupied and running, but locked doors prevented access. Airport staff and university security apprehended him within approximately 30 seconds.

No injuries or damage occurred, and flight operations resumed quickly after Air Traffic Control issued go-around commands. Parker admitted to being intoxicated and claimed memory loss regarding the incident. The FBI, local authorities and airport officials are investigating how the vehicle passed through security checkpoints.
