American singer and performer Oliver Tree, 32, was killed along with five others in a midair collision between two helicopters over the Recreio dos Bandeirantes neighborhood in southwest Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The accident occurred during the morning hours, with debris from the impact striking nearby buildings. One of the helicopters crashed into an electric vehicle yard, igniting a large fire, according to TMZ and local media reports.
Victim Identification and Casualties
Authorities confirmed there were no survivors among the six occupants. The first aircraft carried Tree; Gaspar Prim, 23, an Argentinian content creator known as "Gaspi"; passengers Lucas Vignale and Lucas Brito Chaves; and pilot Alexandre Souza. The second helicopter was occupied solely by pilot Charles Mars. All six were pronounced dead at the scene.
Official Investigation Underway
The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro confirmed the incident is being handled by the 42nd Police Precinct, where forensic examinations have already been conducted. Brazilian authorities are awaiting technical findings from the Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (CENIPA), the country's federal air-safety agency, to determine the cause of the crash. Investigators are focused on why the two aircraft were on converging flight paths and whether human error, mechanical failure or environmental factors contributed to the collision.
