SAS Flight Rejects Takeoff After Taxiway Mix-up

A Scandinavian Airlines Airbus A320neo operating as flight SK2590 executed a rejected takeoff Feb. 5 at Brussels Airport after the crew mistakenly lined up on parallel taxiway Echo instead of the designated Runway 07R. The aircraft accelerated to 107 knots before the error was identified and the crew safely brought the plane to a halt after traveling approximately 3,000 feet.

Investigation Underway

No injuries were reported among passengers or crew during the incident, though the aircraft was evacuated following the emergency stop. Airport fire brigade and federal police responded as part of standard protocol for safety incidents. SAS confirmed a thorough internal investigation is underway alongside Belgian aviation authorities to determine how the aircraft aligned on the wrong surface. Inspections are ongoing on the braking system, which sustained extreme heat during the high-speed rejection.
