Southwest Airlines has unveiled a special Boeing 737 livery dubbed "Independence One" to honor the United States' 250th anniversary. The aircraft, registered as N1776R, features a red, white and blue design incorporating elements of the Betsy Ross flag and the Declaration of Independence. This marks the third in a series of patriotic aircraft for the carrier, joining Freedom One and Liberty One.

The rollout coincides with a partnership with America250, the Congress-directed organization planning national celebrations for the 2026 semiquincentennial. Southwest has pledged $250,000 to employee-supported charities as part of the initiative. The plane is scheduled to make stops across the country, including flights connecting Washington, D.C., Dallas and Philadelphia.

The aircraft made its maiden flights from Washington, D.C., to Dallas and Philadelphia following its introduction at Baltimore/Washington International Airport. This livery expansion serves as a precursor to broader patriotic aviation initiatives expected throughout the anniversary year.
