Middle East Airspace Closures

The ongoing conflict between Iran, Israel and allied groups has resulted in widespread airspace closures across the Middle East. The central corridor between Israel and Iran is effectively closed, eliminating the usual Gulf route used by Europe-Asia traffic.

Operational Impacts

Airlines are being forced to reroute flights, creating major operational disruptions for carriers using Gulf hubs. The Emirates Flight Information Region remains partially open under tight restrictions, with only specific corridors available and flow control implemented at key waypoints.

Official Warnings

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency has updated its Conflict Zone Information Bulletin to cover all altitudes across the airspace of Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, UAE, Oman and Saudi Arabia. EASA advises operators not to operate in these airspaces due to missile and air-defense risks.
