A Buddha Air ATR 72-500, registered 9N-AMF, overran runway 10 at Bhadrapur Airport in Nepal on January 2, 2026, resulting in substantial damage to the aircraft but no fatalities, according to reports from FlightGlobal and Aviation-safety.net.

The flight, U4901, was arriving from Kathmandu-Tribhuvan Airport. All fifty-one passengers and four crew members survived, though Aviation24.be reports seven injuries.

The Nepal Civil Aviation Authority has dispatched an investigation team to the site. Buddha Air has stated that the aircraft 'skidded off the runway while landing... overshot, but all those on board are safe' and pledged full cooperation with the investigation.

Accident Details

The ATR 72-500 touched down approximately four hundred twenty meters from the end of runway 10, with visible skid marks starting from about eleven hundred twelve meters of the runway, indicating braking action was taken by the crew. The aircraft veered right and then left before exiting the runway and coming to a stop in a creek approximately one hundred eighty-three meters east of the runway.

Both main and nose landing gears, propellers, and engines sustained substantial damage.
