Cessna 208B Ditches at Indonesian Beach; All 13 Aboard Survive

A Smart Air Cessna 208B Grand Caravan, registration PK-SNS, experienced a loss of engine power shortly after takeoff from Nabire Airport in Central Papua, Indonesia, and ditched on the shore of West Nabire Beach. According to the Aviation Safety Network, all 13 occupants survived the incident.
The plane took off en route to Kaimana Airport and ditched near the Kaladiri logpond area. The Indonesian Police News reported that survivors received medical checks for minor injuries and shock.
The Indonesia National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) is expected to investigate the cause of the accident, which has been categorized as a System/Component Failure or Malfunction (Powerplant).
