HondaJet Overruns Runway at Osaka-Yao Airport; No Injuries Reported
OSAKA, Japan — June 26, 2026 — A Honda HA-420 HondaJet overran Runway 27 during landing at Osaka-Yao Airport (RJOY) on Friday, sustaining substantial damage after striking a fence beyond the end of the runway. All three occupants aboard escaped without injury.
The aircraft, registration JA333P, is operated by the Tokushukai Medical Group. Emergency responders confirmed no fire or fuel leak at the scene following the excursion. The flight had originated from Tokyo-Narita Airport (NRT) prior to the incident.
Investigation and Weather Conditions
The Japan Transport Safety Board (JTSB) has launched a formal investigation, classifying the event as a serious incident. Meteorological data recorded at the time shows light rain showers were present, with variable winds between 100 and 190 degrees at approximately five to six knots — conditions that investigators are expected to examine as a potential contributing factor.
Context
This incident follows a separate runway overrun involving a HondaJet in North Bend, Oregon, in April 2025. That previous event resulted in the aircraft being damaged beyond repair. The JTSB investigation will determine the specific contributing factors for the JA333P excursion at Yao Airport.
