IndiaOne Air Cessna 208B Crashes Near Rourkela; One Dead, Five Injured
A Cessna 208B Grand Caravan EX operated by IndiaOne Air crashed during a forced landing approximately 10 kilometers south of Rourkela Airport in India on January 10, 2026, killing one of six occupants and injuring the remaining five.
The aircraft, registration VT-KSS, was operating scheduled flight I7102 from Bhubaneswar to Rourkela when the crew observed dropping engine oil pressure approximately 30 nautical miles short of their destination.
According to the Aviation Safety Network, the flight departed Bhubaneswar at 12:20 local time and had climbed to its cruising altitude of 8,000 feet when the emergency developed around 13:14 local time.
Following standard procedures, the crew shut down the engine and declared a mayday with air traffic control. The pilot executed a forced landing in an open field, with the aircraft sustaining substantial damage after striking a tree or power line during the approach.
All six occupants initially survived the crash with injuries, but one later died in hospital from injuries sustained in the accident.
The pilot's decision to steer the aircraft toward open ground potentially prevented a more catastrophic outcome in the populated area.
The Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has launched an investigation into the incident.
The Cessna 208B Grand Caravan EX is a single-engine turboprop aircraft commonly used for passenger and cargo operations in India's regional aviation market.
