Turkish Airlines Boeing 777 Clips Radar Tower While Taxiing at Antalya

ANTALYA, Türkiye — A Turkish Airlines Boeing 777-300ER sustained substantial damage after its right-hand wing struck a radar antenna mast during taxi operations at Antalya Airport (AYT) on Thursday, June 11, 2026. All 267 passengers aboard were safely evacuated, with one reporting minor injuries.

The aircraft, registration TC-LKD, was operating as flight TK2430 inbound from Istanbul Airport when the collision occurred on Apron 1 following an otherwise normal landing.

What Happened

According to the Aviation Safety Network (ASN) and preliminary statements from Türkiye's Ministry of Transport, the aircraft entered a taxiway with approximately 29 meters of clearance between the centerline and the base of the radar antenna tower — insufficient for the Boeing 777-300ER, whose 64.8-meter wingspan extends 32.4 meters from the centerline. The right-hand wing struck the mast, causing it to collapse onto the fuselage.

The impact resulted in severe damage to the outer section of the right wing, as well as localized substantial damage to the fuselage.

Investigation

Preliminary reports indicate the collision stemmed from a taxiway routing error; the aircraft is believed to have entered the taxiway from the wrong lane. Turkish Airlines has confirmed that a full technical investigation is underway. The aircraft remains grounded at Antalya Airport pending a comprehensive damage assessment.

There were no fatalities. Authorities have not yet indicated how long the investigation is expected to take.
