AutoGyro Cavalon Substantially Damaged in Coffeyville, Kansas Accident

An AutoGyro Cavalon gyroplane, registration N113CX, was substantially damaged during a takeoff accident near Coffeyville, Kansas, on June 2, 2026. The aircraft was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight, according to preliminary data from the National Transportation Safety Board.

The accident occurred at approximately 8:37 a.m. CDT during the pilot's second solo flight of the day. While between 10 and 30 feet above the runway, the gyroplane began shaking violently and rolling to the left. The pilot attempted to correct the roll using full right cyclic and rudder input but was unable to regain control. The gyroplane impacted the terrain, bounced, and rolled several times before coming to rest on its left side, resulting in substantial damage to the fuselage, empennage and main rotors. The pilot was not injured, and the aircraft has been recovered to a secure facility for further examination.

The NTSB has not yet determined the probable cause of the accident. The investigation into the Coffeyville event remains ongoing.
