Cessna 182 Suffers Runway Excursion at Houston Airport, No Injuries
A Cessna 182P Skylane veered off the runway during landing at a Houston-area airport April 1, sending all three occupants to safety despite substantial damage to the aircraft.
The single-engine aircraft, registered N6569M, crossed an intersecting taxiway after departing the active runway and came to rest in a ditch adjacent to the airfield. The National Transportation Safety Board has opened an investigation into the incident, assigned case number CEN26LA157, though no probable cause has been determined.
Runway excursions during landing are among the most common general aviation incidents, particularly involving training aircraft like the popular four-seat Cessna 182 Skylane. The NTSB preliminary report indicates no other property damage occurred beyond the aircraft itself.
