DC-3 Suffers Wing Damage in Ground Collision at Anchorage Airport

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A Douglas DC-3C sustained substantial damage after its right wing struck a parked tug during taxi operations at Anchorage airport May 8, according to the National Transportation Safety Board.

The aircraft, registration N115U, had two occupants aboard at the time of the ground collision. Neither person was injured in the incident, which occurred during routine ground operations.

The NTSB has opened a preliminary investigation into the event, designated as case ANC26LA040. No probable cause has been determined for the collision. The DC-3 remains a workhorse of Alaskan aviation due to its rugged design and reliability in harsh conditions.
