Emirates A380 Aborts Takeoff at Dubai After Engine Failure
An Emirates Airbus A380-861, registered A6-EEX, rejected its takeoff from runway 30R at Dubai International Airport on June 20, 2026. Flight EK205 experienced an engine failure during the takeoff roll, prompting the crew to abort the departure. The aircraft was brought to a controlled stop on the runway without further incident, according to the Aviation Safety Network.
No fatalities or injuries were reported among passengers or crew. The aircraft subsequently returned to the gate for technical inspection. UAE authorities are leading the investigation, with the NTSB potentially participating as an accredited representative for U.S. interests.
Emirates is the world's largest operator of the A380, deploying the double-deck widebody on high-density long-haul routes across its global network. Technical examinations are ongoing to determine the specific cause of the engine failure aboard EK205.
