JetBlue A320 Turbulence Injures Crew Member in Dominican Republic

A JetBlue Airways Airbus A320-232 crew member was seriously injured during a turbulence incident at Punta Cana International Airport in the Dominican Republic on April 4. The aircraft, registration N794JB, landed safely with no passenger injuries or fatalities reported.

The National Transportation Safety Board has opened an investigation into the incident, assigning Event ID 20260409202786. Preliminary reports indicate the turbulence occurred during the aircraft's descent phase, when cabin crew are often moving through the cabin to prepare for landing.

Turbulence-related injuries remain among the most common aviation safety incidents, with the Federal Aviation Administration emphasizing that keeping seat belts fastened when seated is the most effective prevention measure. The investigation will examine weather conditions, flight operations and crew procedures during the descent into Punta Cana.
