Maule M-7-235 Substantially Damaged After Takeoff Power Loss Near Wasilla

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating a substantial damage accident involving a Maule M-7-235 aircraft, registration N93ML, near Wasilla, Alaska. The incident occurred April 3, 2026, at approximately 1 p.m. Alaska Daylight Time during a personal flight.

According to the pilot, engine power appeared normal during the takeoff roll, but a perceived reduction in power occurred shortly after rotation. The pilot stated rejecting the takeoff was not an option due to obstacles, and the aircraft impacted trees approximately 1,500 feet from the beginning of the takeoff roll.

No fatalities or serious injuries were reported. The pilot and one passenger were uninjured. The wreckage was recovered and a detailed post-accident examination is pending. The NTSB has not yet determined the probable cause of the accident.
