NTSB Records Minor Incident Involving Piper Super Cub in Alaska
TYONEK, Alaska — The National Transportation Safety Board has recorded a minor aviation incident involving a Piper PA-18A-150, registration N9250D, that occurred May 19 near Tyonek, Alaska.
According to NTSB data (Event ID 20260521203029), there were no reported fatalities or injuries associated with the event. The NTSB classified the severity of the incident as "none," and no aircraft damage was listed in the initial report.
Tyonek is a remote Alaska Native village located on the west side of Cook Inlet, where aviation serves as a primary means of transportation. The Piper PA-18 Super Cub family is widely utilized in these rugged environments due to its short-field takeoff and landing capabilities and low-speed handling characteristics. While the NTSB has not yet released a public narrative regarding the cause of the incident, the PA-18 remains a staple of Alaskan bush flying operations.
