A Piper PA-14 Family Cruiser sustained substantial damage after veering off a runway and into trees during landing near Nenana, Alaska, on May 18. The aircraft, registration N5184H, encountered wind gusts during the landing phase, causing it to lose directional control.

Reports indicate winds were approximately 11 knots with gusts at the time of the incident. While the aircraft suffered significant structural damage, no fatalities or injuries were reported. The National Transportation Safety Board has assigned event ID 20260519203016 to the occurrence.

Details regarding the pilot's identity, number of occupants and flight purpose have not been released. The NTSB has not yet issued a preliminary report on the probable cause. Small tailwheel aircraft like the PA-14 are frequently operated in rural Alaska but can be more susceptible to directional control issues during gusty conditions.
