NetJets Citation Latitude Crashes Short of Laredo Runway, One Dead
A NetJets-operated Cessna Citation Latitude crashed onto a highway just short of the runway at Laredo International Airport in Texas, killing one of the six people on board. The business jet had departed Los Cabos, Mexico, bound for Austin, Texas, before diverting to Laredo due to a reported mechanical issue. Emergency responders found the aircraft resting on or near Loop 20, approximately 2.5 miles from the runway threshold.
Capital Factory, a Texas-based startup accelerator, confirmed the victim as Joshua Baer. NetJets acknowledged the aircraft was part of its fleet and said the company is cooperating fully with investigators. The five surviving passengers were transported for medical evaluation.
Investigation Status
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause of the accident. Some aviation analysts have suggested fuel starvation as a potential factor, citing the aircraft's descent profile and the absence of a significant post-crash fire. However, the NTSB has not issued a probable cause determination, and investigators continue to examine the wreckage for evidence of mechanical failure or fuel-related issues.
