North Dakota Lawmaker Dies in Minnesota Plane Crash
A single-engine Beechcraft F33A crashed in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, on Saturday, killing North Dakota State Representative Liz Conmy and the pilot. Officers responded to the crash report at 11:51 a.m. and found the aircraft engulfed in flames in Southbrook Park after departing Crystal Airport.
The National Transportation Safety Board is leading the investigation into the incident, which occurred under unknown circumstances. Investigators will examine the pilot, aircraft and operating environment, including maintenance records. Both occupants were found dead at the scene, with no ground injuries or property damage reported.
The North Dakota Democratic-Nonpartisan League Party and the governor confirmed Conmy's death through press releases. State Sen. Tim Mathern also verified the loss to the Star Tribune. The aircraft has been moved to a secure location for detailed examination by investigators.
