Two pilots were killed June 7, 2026, when a US-registered Gulfstream G200 business jet crashed during an emergency landing at La Romana International Airport (LRM) in the Dominican Republic. The aircraft, registered as N318JF and owned by Aibonito Aviation LLC, was destroyed by impact and a subsequent post-crash fire.

According to the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute (IDAC), the crew declared an in-flight emergency approximately 16 nautical miles southwest of the airport, citing severe mechanical problems. Video footage shows the aircraft making a high-speed touchdown, veering off the runway and erupting into flames. Reports indicate the crew performed one go-around before attempting a second approach in the opposite direction.

IDAC has launched an investigation into the crash cause. While preliminary reports suggest possible engine power loss, investigators have not confirmed the specific mechanical failure. The aircraft was on a ferry flight to Austin, Texas, to retrieve former St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina and his family, who were not aboard during the accident. Though the aircraft is US-registered, Dominican authorities maintain primary jurisdiction, with potential NTSB assistance.
