Analysis

On September 10, 1994, about 1315 eastern daylight time, a Schweizer, SGS 2-33A, N34215, registered to Robert A. Burbank, collided with trees while landing at Bob Lee Airport, Deland, Florida, while on a 14 CFR part 91 pleasure flight. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time and no flight plan was filed. The aircraft received substantial damage and the private-rated pilot was not injured. The flight originated at Deland, Florida, on September 10, 1994, at 1300.

The pilot stated that while on final approach he maneuvered to the left to avoid an ultralight aircraft which was on a parallel approach with him. The aircraft rolled to the right and the right wing contacted the ground. The aircraft rolled back to the left, the left wing again contacted the ground, and the aircraft veered to the left and collided with trees.
