Analysis

On September 13, 1994, at 1050 mountain daylight time, an Aeronca 7AC, N85564, nosed over during the landing roll at the Nampa Municipal Airport, Nampa, ID. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time and no flight plan was filed for the local instructional flight. The airplane was substantially damaged and the private pilot and flight instructor were not injured.

The flight instructor reported that the purpose of the flight was to check out the private pilot in a tailwheel airplane. During the landing roll on runway 29, with the private pilot at the controls, the airplane began to swerve to the right. Left rudder control was applied, however, the airplane exited the side of the runway into the soft soil and nosed over.
