The airplane was substantially damaged and the private pilot and flight instructor were not injured.

The flight instructor reported that the purpose of the flight was to check out the private pilot in a tailwheel airplane. During the landing roll on runway 29, with the private pilot at the controls, the airplane began to swerve to the right. Left rudder control was applied, however, the airplane exited the side of the runway into the soft soil and nosed over.
