Analysis

On August 12, 1995 at 1345 central daylight time, a Cessna F182RG, N34SJ was substantially damaged while landing near Lakeview, Arkansas. The private pilot and his three passengers were not injured. The flight originated in Dallas, Texas, at approximately 1145. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed for the personal cross country flight, conducted under Title 14 CFR Part 91. A flight plan was not filed for the flight.

Witnesses at the private airstrip observed the airplane coming in "too fast and too high to land" on the 2,200 foot grass airstrip. According to witnesses interviewed by the Baxter County Sheriff Department and the Arkansas State Police, the airplane touched beyond the mid-field point on Runway 24, bounced 3 or 4 times before control was lost and the airplane departed the left side of the runway.

Before coming to rest on the left side of the airstrip, the airplane impacted light poles, four parked vehicles, and bushes.
