The private pilot and his passenger were not injured. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed and no flight plan had been filed. The personal flight departed from Scappoose, Oregon, and was destined for Yamhill. The flight was conducted under 14 CFR 91.
The pilot reported that while on final approach for runway 25, the late afternoon sun and a slightly smokey windshield resulted in the pilot temporarily losing sight of the runway. Just prior to touchdown, the airplane collided with a fence post short of the runway.
