On May 18, 1997, at 0900 eastern standard time, a Cessna 172N, N5685E, operated by Tri-State Airways, and flown by a private pilot nosed over following a loss of control while landing on runway 23 (4,000' x 75') at the Tri-State/Steuben County Airport, Angola, Indiana. The 14 CFR Part 91 personal flight was operating in visual meteorological conditions without a flight plan. The airplane was substantially damaged.
