Analysis

On June 15, 1993, about 0930 central daylight time, a Beechcraft B19 airplane, N24674, sustained substantial damage while landing at Janesville Airport, Janesville, Wisconsin. The solo student pilot was not injured. The local instructional flight operated under 14 CFR Part 91 without flight plan in visual meteorological conditions.

The student pilot was attempting his first solo touch and go landing on runway 31. The airplane landed hard, bounced, exited the left side of the runway and struck visual approach slope indicator lights.

The student pilot claimed no preaccident mechanical difficulties with the airplane.
