Analysis

On November 8, 1993, at 2100 central standard time, a Cessna 172I, N35537, operated by the Macon Flying Club, Macon, Missouri, sustained substantial damage when it departed the runway and nosed-over during takeoff from the Omar N. Bradley Airport, Moberly, Missouri. The private pilot and the sole passenger aboard the airplane received minor injuries. No flight plan was filed, and visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time.

The pilot stated he attempted to takeoff from midfield on runway 13, became concerned that the end of the runway was approaching too rapidly, and tried to abort the takeoff. The airplane departed the end of the runway, hit a ditch, and nosed-over.
