Analysis

On July 23, 1999 at 1255 central daylight time, a Robinson R22, N2313D, piloted by a commercial pilot, sustained substantial damage when it impacted terrain near Spring Green, Wisconsin. The flight was conducted under the provisions of 14 CFR Part 91 and was not on a flight plan. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident. The pilot who was the sole occupant reported no injuries. The flight originated in Spring Green, Wisconsin for a local flight at time unknown.

The aircraft had been pollinating a cornfield. The pilot stated, in a written report, that he had "... made about three to four turns near the wires at the east end of the field before striking the wire...." The helicopter subsequently impacted the terrain.

Post accident examination of the helicopter revealed no preexisting anomalies.
